Many industrial applications have processes that require cooling, spraying, mixing or lubricating. In many situations these processes run continuously and waste unnecessary liquids, lubricants, compressed air and energy. A range of cycling digital timers has been released by Norgren to help reduce costs in these situations.

The digital timers can be fitted to most solenoid valves that have DIN 30 mm square plugs or ISO 22 mm rectangle plugs that are commonly used in Australasia. The timer fits between the solenoid coil and electrical plug as a sandwich fit and therefore requires no additional wiring.

The timer can be easily programmed to give 'on' and 'off' cycling with intervals adjustable between 0.1 and 99 h. The digital timer settings can be easily and accurately adjusted by up and down keypad buttons. In addition, a manual override button can be depressed to test the solenoid valve or override the timer. An LED digital display shows the delay settings as well as displaying countdown time during cycling.

The timers can be retrofitted to pneumatic, hydraulic and fluid process valves. Rather than having cooling lines, air blowing, dosing and lubrication systems permanently running they can be set to an optimum on time cycle. Savings in fluids and energy costs are claimed to be achieved by only having processes operate periodically.

Other applications include operating mixing and agitating, diverters on conveyors and air vibrator control.

The timers are available in 10-48 and 110-240 VAC/DC.
